This programme works with tribal communities in Banka district to secure individual and community forest rights under the Forest Rights Act, and to raise household income through improved goat rearing and access to government welfare schemes.
Reach
- 2,230 tribal households across 55 hamlets in 20 revenue villages, covering 10,112 people — 4,804 women and 5,308 men.
- All 2,230 households depend on forest produce; 2,230 families rear a total of 19,786 animals, including 5,937 goats.
Progress in 2024-25
- 40 forest-rights leaders selected and trained in two units on individual and community forest land claims.
- 20 village committees formed and Forest Rights Committees reconstituted through Gram Sabhas.
- 152 families submitted individual forest-rights claims; caste and residential certificates issued for 170 families.
- Community claim submitted for Aakakura village; trace map under preparation for Belharia.
- 5 Pashu Sakhis trained in advanced goat rearing; each now earns ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 a month.
- 80 goat-rearing groups formed with 1,619 women members; savings of ₹57,323 accumulated and 864 group meetings held.
- 200 training sessions reached 1,508 women; 798 goats vaccinated against PPR.
- 150 women received ₹10,000 each — 138 built goat shelters and 150 bought two goats each, adding 300 goats.
- Government scheme camps in 20 villages delivered 396 birth certificates, 242 MGNREGA job cards, 47 ration cards, 17 old-age pensions and 8 widow pensions.
